1955 Francis Barnett Cruiser 75
This lovely machine has had a bare metal nut and bolt rebuild and would be ideal as a first classic or for an experienced rider looking for something a little lighter and more manageable. It's an easy starter, everything works and it is easy to ride. It has the desirable Villers 1H 225cc engine with the 4 speed gearbox ‐ those in the know will be aware that this is a significant improvement on the 3 speed box fitted to other Villiers powered bikes. Everything on the bike works as it should.
A brief list of work done:
- All frame and tinware grit blasted and repainted using Paragon coach enamel in the correct shade of Arden Green
- All cycle parts stripped and inspected with new parts fitted as required
- New tyres
- New exhaust from Armours
- Both brakes relined by Villiers Services
- Both wheels rebuilt with new spokes
- New piston rings, crank seals and small end bearing
- Wiring renewed where required and reconfigured to give DC coil ignition ensuring easy starting
- New rear suspension units
- New sealed battery
- All new control cables
- Easy to use prop stand
- Sundry new parts
There are a few minor details which the purist may wish to attend to - this is not a trailer queen concours machine - but it is a bike which is ready to ride and enjoy. Ideal for the back lanes and minor roads. Obviously it does not require an MoT and its road tax is free of charge.
I rebuilt the bike over the last year or so intending to use it for local trips. However, I have osteo arthritis in my hip which has flared up making it virtually impossible to get aboard the bike so have decided to go for a maxi scooter in the interim so as not to miss the hopefully good weather. Hence the little Cruiser is up for sale.
